Cutting-edge technologies in LBS
For three days, location based services experts and enthusiasts met at the TU Wien to discuss recent discoveries and trends in the course of the LBS Vienna Conference. We were there to present our Indoor Positioning technology and most up to date research results.
While CRO Thomas was at the Apache Big Data Europe Conference, some of the other Researchers actively participated in the LBS event. While Andreas and Reinhard talked about their specific research on Orientation Determination and the Flexible Positioning estimator in Indoor Navigation, Boxian was given the honor of representing the whole company with his introduction to indoo.rs. We are happy to say that all of them received big interest from the audience and other participants.
IoT and Location
Many interesting ideas and concepts were introduced showing how they are driving the location based market. Other companies which let everyone in on their vision were Parkbob and Fluxguide, who were talking about how “location-services will be the heart of the IoT space”. Let’s have a little closer look at this theory.
Smart into the future with Indoor LBS
Think about proximity messaging. It enables you to receive messages on your phone based on your location. Now, if we develop this concept further by combining the Location of Things (or location based services) with the Internet of Things, you will be able to use real-time data and turn it into even more qualified actions. This is activating people in the moment of truth.
For instance, let’s say you’re wearing your fitness tracking wristband while getting into the proximity of a restaurant. Then you could get an offer tailored to your health statistics, instead of just any random offer. Or, in the context of living, there are many ways you could connect devices with your location and trigger certain events. For example, you enter your room and the radio switches on.
These are just very simple examples of how the Internet/Location of Things could be connected and contribute to even more quality in our everyday life.
This and other interesting topics have been addressed at the conference, all of which we are sure to hear more about in the future. As for us, we’ll keep up our research to continue bringing the best Indoor Positioning solutions to you. Also, we will soon release a blog about events you can find us at in 2017, so stay tuned!
